Role Overview
We are looking for a Software Development Engineer – Full Stack who can take ownership of a feature end to end, from database design and backend APIs to frontend implementation and mobile application delivery. This role is suited to an engineer who understands how different layers of an application connect and can independently build, test, debug and ship complete features without relying on multiple handoffs. You will work across our application stack, with a focus on React Native mobile development, backend services and database design. We value engineers who combine strong fundamentals with a bias for action, sound technical judgement and the ability to figure things out independently.
Key Responsibilities
End-to-End Feature Ownership: Design, develop, test and ship complete features across the database, backend APIs and user interface.
Mobile Application Development: Build and maintain cross-platform mobile experiences using React Native for iOS and/or Android.
Backend Development: Design, implement and maintain APIs, business logic, data models and integrations required to support application features. Database Design: Own database schemas, data relationships, queries and migrations for the features you build.
Frontend Development: Build responsive, performant and intuitive interfaces while maintaining clean component architecture and reusable code.
System Integration: Ensure seamless integration between mobile interfaces, APIs, databases and third-party services.
Debugging & Performance: Identify and resolve issues across the stack, improve application performance and ensure reliability.
Testing & Quality: Write appropriate tests, review code and maintain engineering standards across the development lifecycle.
Production Ownership: Participate in deployments, monitor issues and take responsibility for the quality of features after release.
Technical Problem-solving: Break down ambiguous problems, evaluate possible solutions and make practical engineering decisions.
Collaboration: Work closely with product, design and engineering teammates to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
What We're Looking For
2–3 years of professional software engineering experience.
Strong understanding of how the full stack connects, from database and backend APIs to frontend and mobile interfaces.
Hands-on experience shipping a React Native application on iOS and/or Android.
Ability to independently own a feature across database schema, API development and UI implementation.
Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and modern application development practices.
Solid understanding of REST APIs, asynchronous programming, data modelling and application architecture.
Familiarity with Git, debugging, testing and production deployment workflows.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
A bias for ownership: you can identify what needs to be done, figure out how to do it and deliver the solution.
Good to Have
Experience with Node.js and backend frameworks such as Express or NestJS.
Experience with relational or NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL or MongoDB.
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines and application monitoring.
Experience with mobile app releases, app-store deployment and production troubleshooting.
Understanding of mobile performance, offline handling, push notifications and authentication flows.
Experience using AI-assisted development tools thoughtfully to improve engineering productivity.
